Polyslash is introducing its newest game Phantaruk, a survival-horror game set on the spaceship Purity-02. Set in the distant future, the Purity-02 is a biological research lab that is helping to develop new technology in the field of transhumanism. For those of you who are unfamiliar, it’s a movement that wishes to create a post-human subculture that takes the soul of humans but puts them in repairable robotics. You’ll be dropped onto the ship and must explore what has become of the once lively station, which is now a deadly trap.
Combining stealth and survival, you’ll need to explore the ships searching out a cure to the toxins that are destroying from the inside. A deadly monster named Phantaruk explores the halls of the spaceship, searching for anything that it could destroy. As you avoid the creature and try to find a way off the ship, you’ll need to find special syringes that’ll keep the disease from taking over your body and batteries to keep your flashlight going. The light keeps the terrifying beast from sneaking up on you.
“One of our goals was to make sure that the player can never feel completely safe,” says Lead Game Designer Patryk Polewiak in a press release. “We created an environment in which you are constantly hunted down and can be surprised at every corner. We achieved that by exploiting tools more sophisticated than simple jump scares which are so prevalent in horror video games.”
Taking inspiration from “Doom 3 and Dead Space,” the developers are hoping to build a “dark and gritty look” according to their press release. They promise a “modern survival horror,” but one that changes after you start playing. They’re hoping the combination of the abandoned spaceship, creeping terror in the shadows and the ever impending doom inside of you will create a terrifying experience.
The game is set to be released in August of this year, so make sure you keep an eye out- especially in the dark recesses behind you. For more news about intergalactic terrors in space and other awesome games, make sure you keep reading my blog.
